Amber Wheeler Bacon is a writer, teacher and literacy specialist. She has an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars and is on the board of directors of the South Carolina Writers Association. Her writing has recently appeared or is forthcoming in Epiphany, Ruminate, Post Road, New Ohio Review, Crazyhorse and Fiction Writers Review. Her work can be read online at Ploughshares, CRAFT, and New South. She is the recipient of the 2018 Breakout 8 Writers Prize sponsored by The Author’s Guild and a 2020 Katharine Bakeless Nason Scholarship from the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference. Her short story, “North Toward Loris,” which appears in the current issue of Witness, was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Amber grew up in the Atlanta area, and now lives on the South Carolina coast, working as an instructional coach at a public Montessori school in Pawleys Island and as a Teaching Associate in English at Coastal Carolina University. She is also Assistant Fiction Editor at Four Way Review.
